The album releases on Friday digitally via Lovers Label (distributed by MNRK Music Group). “I wanted to see if we could blend something about that era of Lalo Schiffrin and Quincy Jones scores with the vintage noir grandeur of golden age Hollywood, but somehow make it feel right for a movie set in 1999.” “On Broadcast Signal Intrusion I followed a trial of bread crumbs that Jacob laid out, and wound up down a rabbit hole of conspiracy thrillers from the late ’70s with films like Klute and The Parallax View and the scores of Michael Small,” Lovett said in a statement. The film’s basic premise: It’s the late 1990s and a video archivist unearths a series of sinister pirate broadcasts and becomes obsessed with uncovering the dark conspiracy behind them. Lovett scored Gentry’s 2015 time-travel picture Synchronicity, providing a warm and colorful synth-driven score. This isn’t the first time Vehlinggoland fave Lovett ( The Ritual, The Night House, The Old Ways, The Wind) has teamed up with his longtime friend Gentry. Ahead of the Friday release of both the score and the film, Vehlinggo premieres the ominous and enticing cue “Follow The Tapes.” It’s been a big few months for composer Ben Lovett, and the latest news is tied to the release of his score for pal Jacob Gentry’s new film, Broadcast Signal Intrusion.
